Sunshine Coast Council is developing a cultural plan that will inform policy and assist in planning for future directions and needs in the cultural sector across the region.
To ensure broad community input to the cultural plan, council is undertaking a number of community consultations, focus groups and surveys.
Community Services Regional Director, Lisbet Dean, said community consultation forms part of the program of cultural mapping which will provide the analysis and background for the first regional creative, heritage and arts strategies.
“Council welcomes the community's contribution and encourages residents to get involved in the planning process,” Ms Dean said.
“Some forms of consultation will target-specific community sectors and practitioners while others will seek contributions from participants, audiences and consumers.”
Council has scheduled focus groups and forums across the region throughout late October and early November. A survey relating to the creative and heritage arts sector can also be completed online by visiting council’s website. People who have registered their interest may also receive a survey in the mail or via email.
Residents who are unable to attend a focus group but would like to be involved or kept informed in the cultural planning process are encouraged to contact council.
The first focus group takes place on Tuesday 21 October in Montville. For session details or to book a place at one of the focus groups or forums visit www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au or phone council on 5475 8501.
