Culture in Cooroy for National Reconciliation Week
  • Thursday 15 May 2008

Where: Butter Factory Arts Centre (Cooroy)

When: Thursday 29 May, from 9:30AM

The Butter Factory Arts Centre (Cooroy) celebrates the rich culture and history of the first Australians, in a morning of stories, art, music and craftsmanship.

The Sunshine Coast community will have the opportunity to meet three talented Indigenous artists, Linden David, Gadj Maymuru and Peter “Murray Djeripi” Mulcahy, and learn about the theme for National Reconciliation Week 2008 –‘Reconciliation: it’s all our story’.

The day will host demonstrations, performances in dance and storytelling, discussion and hands on activity that will introduce audiences to the lives and experiences, skills and creativity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

“The program provides an ideal forum to join the reconciliation conversation and to think about how we can help resolve the disadvantage that is experienced by many of these people,” said Manager Butter Factory Arts Centre, Bernice Childs.
