Art lovers are in for a real treat when the Sunshine Coast Art Prize (SCAP) 2D category finalists’ entries will be showcased at Caloundra Regional Gallery from 21 August to 13 October 2013.

Sunshine Coast Council’s Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said SCAP is among the nation’s most significant regional art prizes and attracts the best contemporary and emerging 2D artists in Australia.

“Now in its eighth year, the SCAP 2D category attracted 307 entries and this year's winner receives a $15,000 prize,” he said.

“Art lovers can expect an eclectic exhibition of work from the 40 finalists, including six local artists

“All are welcome to attend the gala opening and announcement of the winner on Friday 6 September from 6pm to 9pm. A non-acquisitive Highly Commended prize will also be awarded to the value of $2,500.

“The community can also get involved by voting in the SCAP 2D People’s Choice award for their favourite artwork. The artist who garners the most votes from visitors to the gallery will be rewarded with a prize of $2,500, sponsored by the Friends Regional Gallery Caloundra Inc.”
