Dunal Integrity Restored
  • Wednesday 03 December 2008

In an effort to prevent further erosion and protect existing vegetation at Mooloolaba Spit, Sunshine Coast Council Bushland management team will co-ordinate the erection of dunal fencing on the frontal dunal area from 3 – 5 December.

Council removed the previous dunal fence, which posed safety concerns. To prevent damage occurring to dunal vegetation through trampling, council will erect the new fence to protect the integrity of the dunes, especially in this high use area.

Council will erect the fencing between beach access No.M90B and M91B. Work will commence 3 December at 1pm with site preparation, and continue 4 December at 7am. Some noise disruption will result from the installation, 4 – 5 December; however, council will endeavour to keep this to a minimum.

Safety signage will be in place advising the presence of machinery on the beach, and lifeguards are fully aware of works.
