Easter Safety Campaign revs up tomorrow

The Sunshine Coast Council and its community partners will tomorrow launch the latest holiday safety campaign for the region with the message: Be safe, not sorry this Easter.

Following the highly successful holiday safety campaign run in December last year, council and its community partners will launch phase two of the campaign designed to target the Easter holiday period with a focus on road safety, self-responsibility and community safety.

Mayor Bob Abbot will officially launch the campaign at the Driver Reviver stop at Chevallum BP on the Bruce Highway at 10am.

In attendance will be representatives from the following community partners involved in the campaign: Qld Police, Qld Transport, Translink, Lifeguards, Sunbus, Sunshine Coast Cabs, Surf Lifesavers, TravelSmart, Liquor Licensing, CALM Sunshine Coast Taskforce, Coastguard, SES, Qld Ambulance Service, Street Angels and Street Reach.

The following speakers will launch the program:

  • Acting Inspector Gavin Ricketts, Qld Police
  • Roadcraft defensive driving course owner and manager, Peter Leupold
  • Mayor Bob Abbot
