Looking for ways to enhance your health and fitness? Join Enhanced Health & Fitness Clinic’s Rikke Fung for a free Sunshine Coast Heart Foundation Walk at Warana.

The newly formed Wyuna Canal Walkers walking group is an exciting partnership between the Sunshine Coast Heart Foundation Walking program and local business Enhanced Health and Fitness Clinic.

This new walk is open to all residents and visitors and welcomes those community members who may be at risk of developing a chronic disease or who currently undertake little or no physical activity.

Join this slow to medium paced 30 to 45 minute walk each Wednesday at 4pm from 6 July 2011 and explore the pathways around the Wyuna Canal. .

The meeting place for walkers is at the entrance of Enhanced Health & Fitness Clinic, 18 Technology Drive, Warana. Just turn up but please arrive five minutes early so the group can leave on time. Dress for comfort, be sun smart and bring a water bottle.

Stay tuned for details of an afternoon tea running once a month for walkers. The afternoon tea will consist of some healthy snacks with recipes provided along with tea and coffee.

Division 4 Councillor Chris Thompson said this new group would provide walkers with the chance to enhance their health and wellbeing in a safe, supportive environment.

"Sunshine Coast Council and the Heart Foundation are pleased to provide all residents and visitors with the Heart Foundation Walking program," he said.

There are over 70 walks that occur across the Coast including monthly Moonwalks and pram walks.

Heart Foundation Walking is funded nationally by the Medibank Community Fund and the Australian Government through the Department of Health and Ageing. It is also funded by the Queensland Government and aimed at getting more Queenslanders active.

Walks do not occur in the event of persistent rain or storms.
