Experience the finest contemporary 3D artists
  • Tuesday 13 August 2013

Now in its eighth year, the Sunshine Coast Art Prize (SCAP) attracts the best contemporary and emerging artists Australia has to offer. The winner of the 3D category will be announced at the official opening on 7 September at Noosa Regional Gallery.

Division 12 Councillor Tony Wellington said this prestigious art prize is supported by Sunshine Coast Council and aims to encourage artistic excellence and bring quality artwork to a regional audience.

“This year we attracted a total of 88 entries in the 3D category which included nine local artists,” Councillor Wellington said.

“Visitors to the Noosa Gallery between 29 August and 20 October can experience the exceptional standard of the 40 selected finalists.

“Once again the 3D entries demonstrate a great diversity of creative ideas expressed via media, technology and traditional sculptural forms.

“Everyone is welcome to attend the gala opening and announcement of the winner on Saturday 7 September at 1pm to 4pm. The winner will enjoy a $15,000 prize and there is also a $2500 non-acquisitive Highly Commended prize.

“The community can also get involved by voting in the SCAP 3D People’s Choice Award for their favourite artwork. The artist who garners the most votes from visitors to the gallery will be rewarded with a prize of $2500.

“There are also various public events associated with the SCAP 3D exhibition including an opportunity to meet local artists, family activity days and creative workshops for children.”
