Council supports Australia Day community events including the Australia Day Awards, a flag raising ceremony at Kings Beach, a street parade in Coolum, and family activities in Buderim.
Sunshine Coast Council Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said the spirit of Australia Day will be celebrated on Monday 26 January with a range of community events happening right across the region.
“Council is hosting an Australia Day Flag Raising Ceremony at Kings Beach at 7.30am for those who would like to take a moment to express their national pride,” he said.
“There is also a range of fun events and activities across the Coast for the community to get involved in, from the Coolum Beach Australia Day celebrations in the north and the second annual Show ‘n’ Shine event at Glasshouse Mountains in the south, just to name a couple.
“Council is also a proud supporter of the Australia Day on Buderim community event which starts at 7.30am and includes a Lions Breakfast, Ecumenical Service, flag raising, children’s activities, food stalls and great family entertainment.
“As always, it is important that we remember to celebrate responsibly, so however you choose to mark this national day of celebration, make sure you do it safely.”
