Sunshine Coast Council anticipates a flood of submissions on its draft planning scheme as the end of the public display period approaches. To be formally considered by council, all submissions must be received by 4.30pm on Friday 14 December.
Regional Planning Portfolio Councillor Russell Green said he was pleased with the broad interest that the community has shown in this historic first plan for the Sunshine Coast region.
"Thousands of individuals, community groups and industry representatives have attended the 39 local information displays and 89 individual meetings and group presentations," Cr Green said.
"Displays at council offices and at the permanent display in Ocean Street, Maroochydore have also experienced high volumes of interested visitors.
"I commend the tireless and enthusiastic planning staff for their efforts assisting the community to have the best understanding of the draft planning scheme and its potential effects.
"If you haven’t done so already, I encourage everyone to take a look at the draft planning scheme in the coming days and to be sure to provide feedback to council before the end of the week.
"The convenience of online access to the draft planning scheme, including maps and overlays, information sheets, online submissions forms as well as general planning information has proven popular.
"The Draft Planning Scheme pages on council’s website have received over 70,000 visits since consultation began."
The Draft Planning Scheme can be viewed online at council’s website and at council offices in Tewantin, Nambour, Caloundra and at the permanent display in Maroochydore.
