Free kite flying event reaches new heights of sustainability
  • Wednesday 26 May 2010

As part of Sunshine Coast Council’s TreeLine arts project, Art on the Wind is an afternoon of kite painting and flying designed to celebrate kites as an environmentally-sustainable alternative to balloons.

Coinciding with World Environment Day, the free event is on Saturday 5 June at 3pm at Lake Currimundi.

The community is encouraged to bring their kites painted at the Art in the Park event, or reserve a kite to paint and enjoy a picnic by the lake.

Activities on offer include:

  • Kite painting and pavement art from 1.30pm
  • Launch at 2pm
  • Kite flying at 3pm

Continue the sustainable theme of the afternoon, and consider car pooling, walking, cycling or kayaking to the event.

To reserve a kite to paint, email suzanne.aspland@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au by Friday 28 May 2010.

TreeLine is an arts initiative running until 31 July this year that aims to inspire the community to take action for the environment through art.
