Free ride for kids these school holidays
  • Friday 18 September 2009

Sunshine Coast Council’s TravelSmart team is hosting a school holiday program of free cycling fun for children aged from nine to 12 – and parents are also welcome to join in.

TravelSmart Sunshine Coast has a fully guided and supervised cycling program including games and fun rides on local off-road cycle pathways.

The sessions are free and include prizes and TravelSmart giveways for participants. It’s BYO bike, helmet and waterbottle, but bikes and helmets can also be hired if people let staff know when booking.

The program runs at local libraries as follows:

Maroochydore Library, 44 Sixth Avenue, Cotton Tree, Friday 25 September, 10am to 11.30am. Register with library staff direct or call 5475 8900.

Noosa Library, Wallace Drive, Noosaville, Monday 28 September, 10am to 11.30am. Register with library staff direct or call 5442 4411.

Caloundra Central Library, Omrah Avenue, Caloundra, Thursday 1 October, 10am to 11.30am. Register with library staff direct or call 5491 2255.

The Queensland Government provides funding to support council’s community cycling education, bike rides and workshop series to get more Queenslanders discovering the lifelong benefits of participating in physical activity and improving eating habits.
