Future for farmers
  • Thursday 08 November 2012

Sunshine Coast Council is hosting a forum about the future of farming and primary production on the Sunshine Coast.

Division 5 Councillor Jenny McKay said council wants to hear from and meet with primary producers about their issues regarding productivity, local produce and what could be addressed in the Draft Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme.

"This is an opportunity for Councillors and council staff to hear first hand from primary producers about their aspirations for the future of the rural industry and the key challenges they are facing," Councillor McKay said.

"Together we can continue to grow a sustainable future for primary producers and we need to work together in order to achieve that goal.

"There’s scope during the forum to talk about a wide range of topics including transport, waste, employment, rural sub-division and buffer zones.

"We will have specialist planning staff at the forum to answer questions related to the Draft Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme.

"Join me at the Palmwoods Hotel on Monday 26 November at 6pm, RSVP by 23 November to my office on 5441 8309."
