What would you and your family do if your home was threatened by severe flooding, a cyclone or bushfires?

Severe weather events are part of life on the Sunshine Coast and it’s time to get ready for possible disasters.

The RACQ Get Ready Emergency Services Expo on Saturday October 10 and Council’s official Get Ready launch event on Tuesday October 13 provide opportunities for residents to learn how to prepare.

Local Disaster Management Chair, Mayor Mark Jamieson, said it was important people took responsibility for preparing ahead of the summer storm season.

“Although we’re currently experiencing beautiful spring conditions on the Sunshine Coast, we can’t afford to be complacent because recent summers have shown that the weather can change very quickly,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“Even a small amount of preparation now can potentially save lives, time and money in the event of a natural disaster.”
