Getting Assistance in a Disaster – Keep this information close to your phone
  • Thursday 20 January 2011

In disaster situations such as the recent floods there are a number of options available to people to obtain assistance.

In emergency or life-threatening situations, residents should always contact Triple Zero (000) for assistance in the first instance.

In other situations, Sunshine Coast Council provides contact options for people during disasters and emergencies. It also provides flood contact options on its website www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au. This site also contains useful information on disaster preparation.

Customers can always contact council direct on council’s customer service centres on telephone numbers 1300 72 72 or 5475 7272. This service operates 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

Calls relating to a disaster are referred to the local Disaster Coordination Centre which will log the inquiry and respond appropriately.

Customers can also email us during a disaster at customerservice@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au

The State Emergency Service (SES) is also contactable on 132 500 and can be contacted in these circumstances. It will refer the inquiry to the local Disaster Coordination Centre which is set up during events such as the recent floods. The Disaster Centre will log the inquiry and respond appropriately.
