Head to Russell Family Park in Montville, on Thursday 27 September for a creative, green and fun, school holiday activity.

Sunshine Coast Council’s Community Grants supports a program of art initiatives across the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Division 5 Councillor Jenny McKay said art4place received a $10,000 Community Grant for their project Sunshine Coast Hinterland Creative Spaces.

"Tomorrow’s activity is all about celebrating the Glossy Black Cockatoo," Councillor McKay said.

"It’s a great opportunity for young people to learn through the creative industries the value of our Glossy Black Cockatoo.

"Young people are the custodians of the future and I am a strong believer in the importance of education and learning through the arts.

"Participants will create wings that replicate the endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo while learning about their habitat and life cycle.

"The wings created will take flight around the hills of the Russell Family Park and into the surrounding She-oak trees.

"Art4place is a community enterprise dedicated to the promotion, design, development, coordination and management of public place-making art specifically on the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

"They provide marvellous opportunities for young people to interact with art and the environment?in a fun way that also promotes art and tourism in the hinterland."
