Go green these school holidays
  • Saturday 23 June 2012

Sunshine Coast Council’s Green June festival has everything kids need to have fun and learn about the environment these school holidays.

Council’s Green Art program, TreeLine, is running daily events for kids including an adventure trail, music and art workshops and story telling.

Sunshine Coast TAFE’s Sustainability Discovery Centre is opening its doors to adventurers of all ages with a bugs presentation, traditional boomerang painting lessons and state-of-the-art interactive exhibits.

Deputy Mayor Chris Thompson encouraged the community to take advantage of the free activities during Green June.

"This week’s Green June line-up is a fabulous mix of activities to entertain and educate the entire family," Cr Thompson said.

"Programs such as TreeLine and the TAFE’s Sustainability Discovery Centre offer people the opportunity to assess their environmental impact and really champion the need for a sustainable future."

The TreeLine Holiday Program runs daily from 10am – 2pm, Monday 25 – Friday 29 June at the Arts and Ecology Centre, Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens. Entry is free; bookings can be made on arrival.

The Sunshine Coast TAFE’s Discovery Centre is open from 10am – 2pm, Saturday 30 June at TAFE Mooloolaba Campus, 34 Lady Musgrave Drive, Mooloolaba. Entry is free; bookings aren’t required.
