Go green with free trees
  • Thursday 07 May 2009

As part of its commitment to becoming Australia’s most sustainable region, the Sunshine Coast Regional Council wants to help you green up your garden with a free tree, shrub and native plant give away.

Councillor Anna Grosskreutz will be handing out free plants to residents on Saturday 16 May between:

8am-10am at Mill Park, 27 Simpson Street, Beerwah
11am-1pm at the CWA Park, Old Landsborough Road, Landsborough
2pm-4pm at the Village Green, Bray Road, Mooloolah

You just need to bring your current year’s rates notice to be eligible to receive your two free tube stock plants. Cr Grosskreutz will also honour past rates notices as well if they have not been stamped for collection.

There will be a choice of trees, natives and ground covers to select from and a council horticulturalist will be on hand to answer all your questions about the specific growing conditions for your new plants. We specialise in butterfly attracting plants.

Other upcoming Free Tree Days for Division 1 residents are;

Saturday 13 June – for residents in Parklands, Glenview and Mount Mellum
Saturday 25 July – for residents of Glass House Mountains, Beerburrum and Peachester

Councillor Grosskreutz plans to hold a free tree day each month in various towns and localities throughout her division. She is also happy to discuss any issues residents might wish to raise at her free tree days as well.
