At a time when water is becoming scarce and a precious natural resource, creating an environmentally friendly and sustainable garden is a must. According to Sunshine Coast Regional Council Mayor, Bob Abbot, this is exactly what residents will learn at this year’s Glasshouse Country Garden Expo.
“The Garden Expo is all about promoting the environment, water management and healthy living,” said Bob. “It’s a great opportunity for everyone to learn how to beautify and manage their gardens in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.”
The expo will feature several keynote speakers such as radio gardening gurus Colin Campbell and Annette McFarlane. Workshops will be held throughout the day on topics such as ‘recycling in your garden’, ‘managing and propagating bromeliads’, and ‘feng shui in the garden’.
Local gardening groups and nurseries will have displays and information to help those less creative gardeners with ideas and concepts to make their garden a showpiece.
A plant clinic will also be available to help those without a green thumb identify plants and weeds, and solve any gardening problems.
The expo will be held at the Beerwah Community Hall and Turner Park on Sunday 25 May from 9am to 4pm, with the official opening commencing at 10.25am. Beerwah Library (adjacent to the hall) will also be open for the day.
