Have input into the future of the Maleny Library
  • Monday 16 May 2016
Maleny LibraryWork on a feasibility study to explore opportunities to extend the much-loved Maleny Library is set to start this week and Sunshine Coast Council wants to hear from you.

Division 5 Councillor Jenny McKay said Maleny Library was one of council’s most utilised and valued community services.

She said the Sunshine Coast Library Plan 2014-2024, the result of an extensive community engagement program, identified a need to investigate opportunities to redesign the Maleny Library, which is the second smallest in council’s library network but one of the busiest.

“That piece of work is now set to begin and it is important that the community takes this opportunity to provide its input for the Maleny Library Facility Development Plan which will provide recommendations to council on the expansion of the Library,” Cr McKay said.

“Continued investment in libraries is pivotal to their continued relevance and positive influence on our communities.

“The feedback we receive will help to prioritise future investment that aligns with community needs, patterns and interests.

“It is important to note that the Facility Development Plan is only the first step in a process that seeks to retain the amenity of the building and the needs of the community. However it is an important step as it will inform future annual budget discussion and funding streams including applications for grants.”
