Have your say about access and mobility in the community

Council will host a community forum on Thursday 4 November at the Millwell Road Community Centre, Maroochydore to hear first hand about disability and mobility access issues from community members facing these challenges personally or indirectly.

The forum is the first step in collaborative planning and implementing works to improve access to the region’s available facilities and services for people with disabilities, carers, mothers with prams, and senior citizens.

Local businesses, architects, students, representatives from community and disability support services and other interested members of the community are also invited to attend the event.

Mayor Bob Abbot said the purpose of the community forum was to allow council to listen to the community's issues regarding access and mobility, and integrate this feedback into future planning and operational works programs.

"We want to assist and encourage all members of the region to participate in their communities and access available facilities and services," Mayor Abbot said.

"The forum provides the first step for the community and council to work collaboratively together to develop a regional framework which guides the provision of equitable and accessible community infrastructure."

Mayor Abbot, along with members of council’s Community Services team, will be in attendance at the forum on Thursday 4 November from 8.30am to 1pm at the Millwell Road Community Centre, Maroochydore.
