Have your say on proposed changes to popular Bli Bli
  • Thursday 17 October 2013

Sunshine Coast Council invites local residents and the many visitors and users of Muller Park, Bli Bli to have their say on proposed changes to the Muller Park Landscape Concept Plan.

Division 9 Councillor Stephen Robinson said council was committed to ensuring the landscape concept plan reflects the needs and aspirations of the community now and into the future.

“The Muller Park Landscape Plan (endorsed by council in 2011) was created to develop the Muller Park area in close collaboration and consultation with local residents, visitors and users,” he said.

“At the time there was no interest expressed in establishing any non-motorised facilities or formal leasing arrangements.

“Since then however we have had requests from the public for council to consider including such facilities in Muller Park, and, in response to this and in recognition of council’s Sport and Active Recreation Plan, we are following due process to work towards enabling the Muller Park site to be leased for non-motorised water sport.

“As with all leasing arrangements on council land, we are required to act in the interests of everyone in the community and to ensure that the outcome is practical, successful and has demonstrated community support.

“The plan adopted in 2011 did not include non-motorised water sport facilities and was used to obtain development approval from the state government, as Muller Park is on state government land.

“We have now obtained permission for the changes to the conditions of development approval for the landscape plan from the state government and are seeking community feedback to the proposal.”

The revised landscape concept plan can be viewed council’s website.  To provide comment on the draft Muller Park Landscape Plan please send an email to ParksCapitalWorks@sunshinecoast.gov.gov.au before 5pm Thursday 31 October 2013.

Further to the community feedback to the proposal, council will call for expressions of interest from non-motorised water sport users and clubs for the use of the proposed lease area.
