Have your say on the future of the Caloundra Central Park Sport and Recreation Precinct

How do you envisage the Caloundra Central Park Sport and Recreation Precinct now and into the future?

Sunshine Coast Council is currently revising the Central Park Master Plan 2005 and developing a long-term master plan (2011 – 2026) for the popular Caloundra sport and recreation precinct. The plan will identify what the precinct will look like and how it will function – and the community is invited to have its say.

Community members are invited to attend a community consultation workshop on Wednesday 4 May 2011at 6pm at the Caloundra Cricket Club, Nicholls Street, Caloundra.

Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said the purpose of the master plan was to maximise the functionality of the sporting hub for the community over the next 15 years.

"Council is seeking input from the community to assist in the planning process of this important sport and recreation precinct," he said.

"We are looking at how users of the facility and the broader community utilise and view the complex and its associated activities, so come along and share with us your hopes, aspirations and visions for this precinct.

"Your input will help shape the plan that will provide recommendations for the effective and efficient use of the area for current and future sport and recreation user groups."

The development of the revised master plan is a recommendation from council’s Sunshine Coast Sport and Active Recreation Plan. The plan acknowledges the significant population growth in the area and the resulting increase in demand for quality sport and recreation facilities by the community.

An external consultant has been appointed to assist council in the master planning process to obtain a comprehensive understanding of stakeholder and community priorities, needs and expectations whilst examining the issues, opportunities and constraints of the site.

If you are interested in attending the community consultation workshop, please nominate your intention by Tuesday 3 May 2011 with Dion Collins on (07) 3901 0730 or at dion@rossplanning.com.au

Your input is important to us. If you are unable to attend this workshop, please complete the questionnaire available at council’s website by Wednesday 11 May 2011.

Following the initial community consultation phases, a draft Caloundra Central Park Sport and Recreation Precinct Master Plan will be developed for public review. It is anticipated that this review period will open in mid 2011.
