Heart Foundation walking group expands to Noosa
  • Tuesday 29 September 2009

The popular Heart Foundation Walking Groups, already found all across the Coast, are expanding into Noosa.

These council-supported groups are a sociable and free way to increase your fitness and wellbeing. Council, together with the Heart Foundation, already supports over 60 walks each week across the Coast.

Currently the closest walking group to Noosa is in Cooroy, so council is on the search for new walkers and leaders to establish groups in the central Noosa area.

The formation and registration of a new group is simple and provides a safe and fun environment for residents to exercise and stay motivated. Groups are highly supported by the Heart Foundation with free merchandise, insurance, newsletters and training.

There is plenty of guidance for new walk leaders as well, with training and start-up packets. No previous experience is needed only the drive to exercise and motivate others.

Heart Foundation Walking Groups encourage anyone to participate regardless of age or fitness. You can do it from your own front door and it is safe and free.

For more information on joining or forming a Heart Foundation Walk in your area visit council’s website www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au. To become a walk leader contact council’s customer service centre on 5475 7272.
