Community experiences the region’s rich heritage
  • Monday 21 March 2016
More than 600 people stepped back in time at yesterday’s (March 20) Heritage Discovery Showcase at Eumundi’s School of Arts Hall.

The event brought together 16 local museums and heritage organisations providing an opportunity to showcase the region’s rich history in one location.

Residents and visitors experienced what it was like to be seated in Queensland Air Museum’s jet fighter cockpit pod and enjoyed a fashion parade through the ages, butter making and wood carving demonstrations, entertainment, antique car display and so more.

The community will have another opportunity to explore the region’s heritage with tours, events and entertainment and more at some of the Coast’s museums and amazing heritage places during the Heritage Discovery Weekend on 30 April and 1 May. Visit council’s website to find out more.

The events are funded by the Sunshine Coast Council Cultural Heritage Levy. The levy was introduced in 2009 to ensure the region’s stories, traditions and places continue to be protected and experienced by future generations.
