Is it a chicken, or is it a spaceship? No it’s school holiday fun
  • Saturday 15 June 2013

The good news for mums and dads these school holidays is there are more than 70 fun school holiday activities to choose from to entertain kids at Sunshine Coast Council’s libraries and galleries across the Coast.

The activities cater for all ages – there is literally something for everyone!

Kids can make spacecraft from recycled materials or join author Chris Collin for his interactive musical Funky Chicken Show.

Children can even learn how to make their own worm farm in the Wonderful Worm Waste Workshops or, by using recycled materials and a hot glue gun, make their very own Steam Punk Jewellery.

If your child ever wanted to know what it is like to be a director, a writer, an actor or film crew member, then the Animated Movie-Making Workshops are just the thing for them. Kids will find themselves working in groups to make a short film based on a range of themes.

For those children who want to discover their creative talents Caloundra Regional Gallery, Noosa Regional Gallery and the Butter Factory Arts Centre are running a range of ArtsCool workshops including painting, monoprints, totems and more.

We encourage families to take advantage of these fun-filled activities to entertain the children throughout the coming holidays. These programs are sure to be popular so book early to avoid disappointment.

To view the full range of holiday activities and to book, head to council’s library website or call your local library on 1300 LIBRARY (1300 542 727), Butter Factory Arts Centre on 5454 9050, Caloundra Regional Gallery on 5420 8299 or Noosa Regional Gallery on 5449 5340.
