The sun, surf and soul are back, with Sunshine Coast Council announcing that the Caloundra Music Festival will return to Kings Beach in 2009.
The beachside festival, which has wowed audiences for the past two years, will be held again this year along the stunning Kings Beach foreshore from 22 to 25 October.
Pre-release tickets will go on sale in April, with festival organisers excited by the enthusiasm from previous attendees.
“We are aiming to get some of Australia’s most popular performers on this year’s bill, with a few surprises thrown in to keep music fans of all ages happy,” council’s Festival Director Richie Eyles said.
A limited number of pre-release tickets will go on sale in April for people on the festival mailing list. Tickets will go on sale to the general public in July.
Mr Eyles said the festival was now looking for key people to join its management team.
“The festival is staffed mainly by volunteers but there are a few key roles requiring specialised skills and long hours that will receive remuneration,” he said.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Bob Abbot said the Caloundra Music Festival had proved its ability to attract visitors from all over Australia, bringing economic and cultural benefits to the local community in a year when many businesses were feeling the pinch.
“Last year, Caloundra accommodation was booked out for the festival weekend and local businesses did a roaring trade servicing the thousands who flocked here,” Cr Abbot said.
“And it’s not just business that benefits – community groups raised much-needed funds to carry on their valuable work.”
