The John Butler Trio will join the Sunshine Coast community for Sound Support, a disaster relief fund raising concert on Sunday 15 May 2011 at the Kings Beach Amphitheatre, Caloundra.
Co-ordinated by Sunshine Coast Council in conjunction with local community members, organisations and businesses, the event is expected to raise more than $200,000 in ticket sales with all profits going to the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Fund.
Mayor Bob Abbot said council is pleased to come on board for this event and support the people of Queensland, who are still rebuilding after a season of unprecedented weather.
"This region was lucky to escape the devastation of this summer’s disastrous weather conditions," Cr Abbot said.
"And while council has already donated both funds and resources, people and equipment, to help our Queensland neighbours – the Sound Support event is a great way for this community to continue showing its support for those people who are still rebuilding their lives."
Music sensation John Butler Trio will headline the Sound Support disaster relief concert, with a number of other key household names including Kate Miller-Heidke turning up to perform in support of this great cause.
John Butler and his band mates Nicky Bomba and Byron Luiters are expected to attract more than 5000 people to Kings Beach.
"Sound Support is a way for the community to raise much needed resources that will be distributed to these communities through the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Fund," Cr Abbot said.
"It is wonderful to see not only the artists but so many businesses and individuals within the community donating their services and coming on board to put on this event in aid for the community."
