Join in Children’s Book Week celebrations at your local library
  • Saturday 27 July 2013

Local kids are invited to join in the annual Children’s Book Week celebrations from Saturday 17 to Friday 23 August 2013 at various library locations across the region.

Children’s Book Week is the longest running children's literature festival in Australia, celebrating children’s books and Australian authors and illustrators. School and public libraries all over Australia devote the week to activities and storytelling relating to the theme to highlight the importance of reading.

The 2013 Children’s Book Week theme, Read across the universe, highlights the universal appreciation of reading for pleasure, and the short listed books reflect the resurgence of universal themes in children’s books including friendship, family, identity and connection.

Books are short listed in categories for older readers, younger readers, early childhood, picture books, and information books. Awards will be announced on 17 August and Sunshine Coast Libraries will have all the short listed nominations for you to read.

Children are invited to join in activities including storytelling sessions, displays, and dress-up days to honour the great children’s literature being created in Australia.
