With a quest to raise awareness for International Day of People with Disability, Cooroy’s Butter Factory Arts Centre invites locals to attend a community day on Tuesday 3 December from 10am to 4pm.
Disability support services, community groups and residents are invited to join Sunshine Coast Council in connecting with the community to celebrate and acknowledge the experience and expertise of people living with disability. This event aims to create opportunities for the local community to think, talk about and acknowledge people with disability in a positive way.
This registered event is being run in conjunction with the inspirational exhibition: Colour is my Voice by Peter Rowe. Peter Rowe has Down syndrome and communicates through his art and a system called Facilitated Communication. Peter’s art is a revelation and celebration of his life and work. He captures the simple pleasures of family and home, revealing his natural flair with colour. For Peter, art not only has the power to heal and transform, art and colour are his voice. Peter will be in attendance from 2pm.
All are welcome to attend the official opening on Colour is my Voice on Tuesday 3 December at 6pm. Visit council’s gallery website for bookings and further information.
