Council is seeking community members to discuss the region’s transport challenges.

Nominations for the Sunshine Coast Council Transport Community Group are now open and council looks forward to continuing its partnership with the community.

Integrated transport portfolio councillor Rick Baberowski said the group was established in 2008 to help guide the development transport planning and implementation across the region.

“Council is calling for nominations from community organisations, industry representatives and individuals interested in joining the Transport Community Group,” Cr Baberowski said.

“The group discussions help guide council policies and strategic direction on integrated transport systems for the region.

“We need to be very focused on integrated and sustainable transport outcomes if we are to achieve our goal of becoming Australia’s most sustainable region.  And, by engaging with our communities, we are more likely to develop and implement workable solutions for the future of the Sunshine Coast.

“Members have the opportunity to raise broad community views and needs in relation to transport issues.

“Council recognises the important role this group plays in helping establish key directions for transport on the Coast.

“The Transport Community Group is focussed on achieving real outcomes for the Coast, and I encourage interested residents to nominate.

“The group consists of up to 15 people and a selection process is undertaken to ensure a broad range of community interests and expertise is represented.
