Journeying into Photography records contemporary Cambodia
  • Thursday 31 October 2013

Sunshine Coast Council presents a captivating photographic exhibition Journeying in Photography by Alan Stuart-Watt at Maroochydore Library from 1 November until 19 November 2013.

Research for a Masters of Creative Arts took Sunshine Coast TAFE photography teacher Alan Stuart-Watt to Cambodia. This journey took nine months and he recorded the everyday lives of the local people. His photographic shooting script included industrialisation, fashion, technology, transport, housing and construction, food and agriculture and the Angkor era

The images in the exhibition are complemented with relevant Cambodian history. These are part of Alan’s thesis on journeying in photography as a means to recording everyday life. This exhibition offers a contribution to journeying photographers and is an important record of contemporary Cambodia.

All are welcome to attend the official exhibition launch at 3pm on 9 November. Bookings are essential by visiting council’s library website or call 1300 LIBRARY (1300 542 727).
