Landscaping at the new Community Centre in Maleny

The Maleny community is close to realising its dream for a new Community Centre and Sunshine Coast Council is helping with some of the finishing touches.

Council has started landscaping work outside the new facility that will make sure the new building sits seamlessly within the existing Maleny streetscape.

Division 10 Councillor Jenny McKay said Maleny Community Centre Inc are to be commended on their extraordinary efforts to see this new community asset built in the heart of town.

“As part of the landscaping work council will reinstate the mosaic tile art work that was previously in the footpath,” Cr McKay said.

“Council is paving the area and installing new timber street furniture and planting native plants.

“As the site is a construction zone, the Visitor Information Centre and public toilets will be closed for approximately two weeks.

“Locals and visitors will still be able to access public amenities at Tesch park during the temporary closure.

“The area has been barricaded off during construction and once the landscaping is completed the street will return to normal.”
