Last chance to attend free organic recycling workshops
  • Tuesday 25 May 2010

Residents can learn how to turn their veggie scraps into a free, power packed garden fertiliser by attending the final workshops in council’s 2009/10 organic recycling series.

The free sessions will be held during Green June celebrations at the Buderim War Memorial, 9 June, 12-2pm and Coolum Library, 12 June, 9.30–11.30am.

Participants will learn how to set up and maintain their own wormfarm or compost bin and the opportunity to ask questions and seek advice.

One wormfarm, complete with worms, and one compost bin will be given away at each session and with only 30 spaces available per workshop, the odds for winning are good.

The sessions have proved popular with residents who want to create a resource from waste, reduce their carbon footprint and reduce their household waste by around 50%.

Bookings are essential, residents can call council’s customer service centre on 5475 7272 to secure their place.
