Last chance to grab an art bargain
  • Monday 14 October 2013

Sunshine Coast Council offers art buffs a last chance to acquire a fantastic piece of art following the recent successful Sunshine Coast Art Prize (SCAP) Art Auction.

Forty contemporary Australian artworks from the 2013 SCAP 2D and 3D exhibitions were auctioned with several pieces being sold either at the auction or in negotiations since. With the remaining works scheduled to be returned to artists this Wednesday, time is running out to secure art at affordable prices.

There are two-dimensional works and three-dimensional works still available for purchase. The two-dimensional works include paintings, drawings, photography and digital prints across a range of genres. While the three-dimensional artworks cover a range of media forms from traditional and decorative to beautiful conceptual sculptures created from found objects, recycled materials and new-media.

This is an opportunity to pick up original artworks at very affordable prices before the works are returned to the artists.

SCAP is produced by Sunshine Coast Council to encourage artistic excellence and to bring quality artwork to a regional audience. The award provides a distinguished contribution to the national art calendar, attracting talented artists from around the country to enter contemporary 2D and 3D art.

Visit council’s gallery website before Wednesday 16 October to download the list of artworks which are available for purchase or call council’s Gallery Director Nina Shadforth on 5420 8299 or 5449 5340 to arrange an appointment to view the artworks.
