Last week to have your say on types of businesses operating from your favourite beaches and parks
  • Friday 28 September 2012

The community is invited to have their say about businesses operating on Sunshine Coast Council-controlled public land.

Visit council’s website by Sunday 30 September to provide feedback.

As part of council’s extensive community engagement process, the community and visitors to the region have the opportunity to help council establish how much activity, what type of activity and in what location, community space should be offered for commercial use.

Your input will help council develop a new, simple and equitable application process, before current permits expire on 30 June 2013.

Once council has agreed on locations and activities, all interested parties will be invited to submit an application when the 2013 Commercial Use of Community Land application process is advertised in March next year.

While the survey is available online, council officers will also be conducting on-the-spot surveys during the September school holidays at various locations across the region. In addition, during October council will also conduct random phone surveys. This will assist in understanding the types of activities that both Sunshine Coast locals and visitors to the region might engage in while using Sunshine Coast beaches and parks.

Additional feedback can be forwarded to commercialuse@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au or mail to Sunshine Coast Council, Locked Bag 72, Sunshine Coast Mail Centre 4560 or by visiting council libraries and Customer Contact Centres, before Sunday 30 September.

For further information, visit council’s website or one of council’s Customer Contact Centres.
