A range of new facilities are now open at Buderim Village Park for the community to enjoy, after council completed construction last month.

New features include two barbecue shelters, viewing terraces with seating areas, lighting and custom-designed furniture which celebrates Buderim’s heritage by displaying bottles from the early 1900s which were found on the site.

Division 7 Councillor Ted Hungerford said he was pleased to see the latest upgrades finished.

“The new viewing terraces and nearby barbecue shelters provide more recreational opportunities for the community,” Cr Hungerford said.

“The view out to the coast complements the park facilities to make this a great spot to enjoy a barbecue or picnic lunch.

“Earlier stages of work focused more on the horizontal aspects of the park and now we have the first vertical aspects, such as shelters and furniture.

“Buderim Village Park is a 3.4 hectare park with landscaped gardens, a lush village green and stunning views of the Glasshouse Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, and I’m very proud of the work council has done to create the park.”

Stage 6 of work will start in late April 2017. It will include:

  • a multi-functional community space – a raised covered area for performances or community meetings with an adjoining public amenities area.
  • a Village Square that provides a meeting point and includes shaded seating areas, bike racks, bins and a drinking fountain
  • completion of the upper promenade path.
