League legend helps library score

State of Origin legend and Queensland Rugby League (QRL) staff member Billy Moore will score big points with Sunshine Coast Council libraries next week.

The Maroon stalwart, whose famous “Queenslander!” shout is synonymous with Origin football, will be at Caloundra library with a shout of a different kind – 18 copies of a new book: The Centenary of the Greatest Game Under the Sun.

The donation, courtesy of QRL, will be handed over to the library at 11.30am on Monday 16 March.

And who better for Billy to pass the books to than Division Two Councillor – and former Manly and Eastern suburbs player – Tim Dwyer?

“I’m really pleased to accept these books from the Queensland Rugby League,’’ Cr Dwyer said.

“It’s an excellent chronicle of the first hundred years of rugby league in Queensland and I know it’s going to be a very popular item at our region’s libraries.”
