Did you know that Australians produce over 18 million tonnes of waste per year – that’s the same as three million waste collection trucks full of tightly packed rubbish.
Recycling is one simple way that you can reverse this trend and make a positive difference. You can learn the secrets to successful recycling at one of Sunshine Coast Council’s revealing recycling events during National Recycling Week from November 10-16.
Environment Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said community ‘Recycle Right’ workshops and tours would be held to help residents improve their recycling habits.
“’Recycle Right’ workshops will be held at the Kawana and Maroochydore Libraries to help residents learn about how to recycling correctly at home and also to provide an insight into the amazing journey our recyclables take from the time they’re collected from our homes by the waste trucks,” she said.
“The ‘Recycle Right Tour’ at the Nambour Resource Recovery Centre on Saturday November 15 will include virtual tours of council’s recycling processing facility, landfill and Resource Recovery Centre and demonstrations of the amazing technology in our waste collection trucks.”
