Literary lunch on the Coast with Steve Bisley
  • Tuesday 20 August 2013

In a coup for the region, Sunshine Coast Council’s library service invites you to join one of Australia’s favourite actors, Steve Bisley for a literary lunch on Tuesday 3 September at 12 noon at The Rump House, Tewantin as part of the national Get Reading campaign.

Steve began his film career alongside fellow NIDA graduate Mel Gibson in Mad Max and found himself in regular demand, appearing in a diverse range of films, theatre productions and television series.

Steve has now brought his past into vivid life with a classic memoir of an Australian childhood in the sixties. His book, Stillways, is about a happy-go-lucky larrikin boy growing up in a simpler and more innocent time. But woven through the sunlit memories a darker thread runs through Steve’s story, of a father who would take out his frustrations by savagely belting his young children, a struggling mother who’d do anything to protect her kids, and a young boy irrevocably marked by his father’s anger. Endearing, funny, honest and unflinching - this memoir will become an Australian classic.

The two course lunch is only $32 and includes refreshment on arrival. Bookings and pre-payment are essential through council’s library website or phone 1300 LIBRARY.

To go in the draw for a chance to win two tickets to Lunch with Steve Bisley, go to the competition link on council’s library website and answer the simple question: “What is the name of the small farm where Steve Bisley grew up?”
