Are you a talented locally based singer/songwriter who loves the Sunshine Coast? If so, Sunshine Coast Council’s smartArts+ program and Sunshine Coast Destination need you.

Community Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said council’s smartArts+ program is committed to working with and nurturing the region’s creative and cultural industries.

"I am delighted to announce a ‘once in a lifetime’ skills development opportunity for a local talented signer/songwriter," she said.

"In conjunction with Sunshine Coast Destination we are in search of a song that is catchy and reflects the relaxed and energising Sunshine Coast holiday experience.

"The song will be used in an upcoming television commercial and online advertising campaign promoting our beautiful Sunshine Coast.

"The lyrics should include the word ‘sunshine’ and appeal to a range of target markets including young people, children and families.

"The winning artist will be selected by a panel of experts and will receive a recording and promotion package worth almost $10,000.

"The songwriter will retain all ownership of the song and receive any relevant royalties from collection agencies such as Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA).

"Sunshine Coast Destination will retain free and exclusive license to utilise the song to promote the Sunshine Coast region.

"I look forward to hearing the winning song which will promote our beautiful Sunshine Coast."

The Sunshine Coast Song Writing Competition is funded by Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd, Eleven PM Studios, Cartelux Films, Sunshine Coast Council’s smartArts+ and AMPED programs and Event Printers.
