Local spending = local employment = local prosperity

Buy local – and support your local economy.

That’s the main message from last night’s Town Proud campaign launch in Maroochydore.

“The Sunshine Coast Daily and council, along with Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland and Suncorp have joined forces to incentivise locals to buy local, and help all our towns and communities prosper,” Mayor Mark Jamieson said.

“We are a community of communities – and each one of them relies upon its local residents in order to prosper,” he said.

“By buying locally, it’s not just one local business you are helping – it’s also all the local suppliers of that business which, in turn, create local employment.

“And it’s that employment which helps the economy grow and prosper.”

Mayor Jamieson said it was essential this campaign was enthusiastically supported by as many people as possible

“It’s very important to support these campaigns, and Town Proud gives us an opportunity to support our communities and take pride in doing so.

“Remember, every little bit helps and by making people more aware of the positive knock-on effect that buying locally has on the Coast’s economy,” he said.

“I think it’s a great campaign and I thank the Sunshine Coast Daily for initiating it.”
