Sunshine Coast Council libraries invite you to join in the annual Books 4 Kids Christmas book drive from November 9 until December 11 so you can brighten a child’s life with the gift of reading.

Community Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said Sunshine Coast Libraries and the Salvation Army had once again joined forces to promote literacy and spread the Christmas cheer to less fortunate children around the region.

“Over the past 15 years, the Books 4 Kids program has been a great success and is one that is dear to my heart,” Cr McKay said.

“It is really easy to be involved. You can simply buy a new children’s book and drop it into your local library branch.

“You don’t even need to wrap the book as the Salvation Army is taking care of this.

“The books will be distributed to less fortunate children and families by the Salvation Army through their Santa workshop at Maroochydore.

“You can imagine children’s faces lighting up when they open their present on Christmas Day. The gift of a book is one that they can enjoy over the over again.”
