Mayor to launch Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2014

The prestigious Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2014 will be officially launched by Mayor Mark Jamieson at the first Creative Alliance Arts Dinner for 2014 at 5.30pm on Thursday, February 27 at Nambour Civic Centre.

Now in its ninth year, the Sunshine Coast Art Prize has achieved national acclaim for its annual representation of contemporary Australian art. Nation-wide entries open February 24, with the winner receiving $15,000, and a ‘People’s Choice’ winner receiving $2,500 thanks to the Friends Caloundra Gallery Inc.

The Prize exhibition will showcase 40 finalists at Caloundra Regional Gallery from August 27 to  October 26 and is open to Australian residents working within two dimensional mediums.

This year’s Art Prize includes an inaugural exciting New Media Category with the winner receiving $2,500. The New Media category is open to young and emerging artists within the Sunshine Coast region. Applications will open later in 2014 and finalists will be exhibited in 2015.
