Mayor to open Noosa Regional Gallery exhibitions celebrating the Australian landscape

Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson will visit Noosa on Saturday 26 January to open two breathtaking exhibitions celebrating the Australian landscape at Noosa Regional Gallery.
 
Mayor Jamieson said it’s great to see the gallery connecting with the community and celebrating Australia Day with an Australian outback theme.
 
“For over 25 years, Noosa Regional Gallery has consistently curated and presented a diverse array of exhibitions that explore the unique culture and character of the Sunshine Coast,” Mayor Jamieson said.
 
“The quality of the exhibitions presented at each of the Sunshine Coast Galleries is impressive and continue to have a positive impact on the cultural character of our beautiful region.”
 
Noosa Regional Gallery Australia Day Program:
 
  • 9.30am Bush Poet’s breakfast with Harry Donnelly, Ian Mackay and Tom Lockie.
    • Bring a picnic rug for morning tea and poetry by the river
  • 10.30am Creative children’s activities
  • 11.30am Artist talk with John Morrison
  • 12.30pm Artesian Country Artist talk with Tom Lockie and Jo Martin
  • 12.40pm Guest speaker - former Senior Australian of the Year, Bruce Campbell AM MBE
  • 1.05pm Official opening of exhibitions by Mayor Mark Jamieson
  • 2.30pm Floor talk by Tom Lockie and Jo Martin.
Landscapes Far and Wide exhibition
 
John Morrison’s landscapes are inspired by Harry Readford’s outback country. They are a road map to the special landscape that is part of Harry Readford’s extraordinary adventure traversing four states from the New South Wales tablelands deep into the Northern Territory.
 
Artesian Country exhibition
 
12 artists from the Barcaldine, Aramac and Jericho regions bring to life the stories, places and people of Central Western Queensland to reveal the rich diversity of life and land in Artesian country captured in paintings, photography, sculpture and spoken word. On tour with the Exhibition Touring Program, Artslink Queensland.
 
Landscapes Far and Wide and Artesian Country will be on exhibition until 24 February 2013 at Noosa Regional Gallery from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
