Sunshine Coast Council will welcome new ‘Aussies’ tomorrow at an Australian Citizenship ceremony at the world’s only continually running silent movie theatre, the Majestic Theatre in Pomona.

Mayor Bob Abbot will officiate at this event, which is a significant one in the lives of those making a commitment to this nation.

Special guest, Senator for Queensland John Hogg, will join Mayor Abbot and other Sunshine Coast councillors in celebrating this special occasion for 44 new citizens.

New citizens and guests will be entertained by the Pomona Choir who will perform several Aussie tunes including the National Anthem.

The 250 audience members will also be treated to the silent film 'Dad and Dave' which was filmed in Queensland in 1920. Theatre owner Ron West will feature on the organ.
