Mooloolaba Town Park pathway closure
  • Tuesday 01 February 2011

Pedestrians are urged to take heed of pathway closures during upcoming works on the Mooloolaba Town Park project.

The main coastal pathway near the Mooloolaba Surf Club will be closed while construction is in progress.

Division 4 Councillor Chris Thompson said alternative routes for pedestrians included existing pathways along Parkyn Parade or the beach accesses adjacent to the work site.

"This is going to cause some minor inconveniences to pedestrians but the alternative routes are necessary for safety reasons while works are in progress," he said.

"I appeal to residents to take note of the signs that Council has put in place around the Mooloolaba Town Park work site and use the alternative pedestrian routes."

Cr Thompson said the pedestrian detours would remain in place during Stage 2 works on the project, that commence on February 7 and are expected to be complete before Easter.

"Unfortunately the recent heavy rains have caused delays to construction but when complete this park will provide a link between the open space from the foreshore park through to a major civic space for the community and visitors to enjoy," he said.

"It will facilitate safe and pleasant pedestrian access from Mooloolaba Beach to the Mooloolaba Wharf and on to the Mooloolaba River."
