Morcombe family journey
  • Thursday 28 July 2011

The Morcombe family will be meeting with community members at various Sunshine Coast libraries during the month of August.

Sunshine Coast Council’s, Manager of Library and Gallery Services, Ross Duncan said that the Morcombe family will be sharing their personal journey to promote National Missing Persons Week.

"The Morcombe family aims to educate children on how to keep safe and support young victims of crime, Mr Duncan said.

"The last 12 months in particular have been very difficult for Bruce and Denise Morcombe as they prepared and participated in the Coronial Inquiry. The Inquiry is now in its closing stages and they expect to be recalled soon for a few more days of evidence. They must then await the State Coroner to hand down his finding.

"Sunshine Coast Libraries are hosting talks by the Morcombe Family and will display the Foundation Red personal safety DVD.

"The DVD is a vital tool for parents and teachers, to assist children and young teens to identify personal danger signs and provide sufficient skills for them to regain control.

"The DVD has a number of high profile guest speakers including Jessica Watson, Bindi, Robert and Terri Irwin, Jamie Dunn, Agro and Kay McGrath."

This event will fill quickly and bookings can be made on www.library.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au or by contacting your local Sunshine Coast library.
