More time to have your say on the future of Caloundra South
  • Friday 31 July 2009

The Sunshine Coast community will have two extra weeks to provide feedback on the Caloundra South Position Paper.

The public consultation period has been extended to 14 August 2009.

Sunshine Coast Councils Statutory and Regional Planning Portfolio holder Councillor Russell Green said that this extra time will allow the community to prepare an informed submission about the region’s largest parcel of developable land.

“This position paper is an important step in managing growth in Caloundra in a sustainable and responsible way,” Cr Green said.

“This is a big issue for the community and we’ve had some requests by the community groups to extend the consultation period.

“The position paper is available from council’s website, but for those of you who would like to ask council staff any questions in person, an attended display will be located in the foyer of council’s Caloundra office, 1 Omrah Avenue until Friday 14 August.”

The Caloundra South Position Paper is the strategic planning document which informs the drafting of planning scheme amendments including the Caloundra South Structure Plan and related infrastructure planning documents such as the funding arrangements required for the Caloundra South Structure Plan Area.

Comments and suggestions on the Caloundra South Position Paper will be accepted until close of business on Friday 14 August 2009 and will be used to assist council in progressing the planning scheme amendments.
