A high climb. The suspense of waiting on a wooden platform in cold wind. An almost vertical drop…through fire. Propelled headfirst into freezing water.
That was Councillor Jason OPray’s experience this morning when he played ‘guinea pig’ for Tough Mudder’s newest obstacle.
Councillor OPray – Tourism, Sport and Major Events portfolio holder – said the new ‘Fire in Your Hole’ obstacle was reserved only for those who have braved Tough Mudder previously.
“It was absolutely unreal, heaps of fun – I can’t wait to do it again tomorrow,” Cr OPray said.
“Get down here and give it all a go – there’s 18 obstacles across 20km, and this has to be one of my favourite events.”
Caloundra businesses are rolling out the welcome mat for Mudders and anyone who wants to be part of the recovery celebrations, said Cr OPray.
“Tough Mudder will again inject a boost into the our local economy and it’s great to see businesses making the most of these visitors,” he said.
“Everyone is invited to be part of the Apres Mud after party on Saturday afternoon – it’s on along The Esplanade at Bulcock Beach.
“There’s also a heap of great dining deals on offer as part of ‘The Mud Trail’ – make sure you download the app for all the details.”
