Families are invited to join thousands of other children across Australia to celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime at 11am on Wednesday, May 21 at Sunshine Coast Council library branches.

National Simultaneous Storytime is an important annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. Now in its fourteenth successful year it is a colourful, vibrant and fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy using an Australian children's book that explores age appropriate themes and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for grades one to six.

This year’s book Too many elephants in this house is written by Ursula Dubosarksy who is widely regarded as one of the most talented and original writers in Australia today. She is the author of many outstanding books, both for young adults and for children, and has won numerous awards for excellence.

Make sure you head to one of the following locations to join in the celebrations by reading the story and creating gigantic elephant craft fun for all to enjoy.
